Disney World's New Gondola Transportation

There are several transportation options when you are staying at Disney World. And another new option is on the way to Disney World Resorts.

Starting September 29, 2019 The Disney World Skyliner is a gondola system that is currently being constructed outside of Hollywood Studios.

While another form of transportation may not seem exciting, there is something different about this new system. It will connect two parks to two of the Value Resorts.

Before the gondola system, the only free Disney transportation you could take to get to the parks from the Value Resorts was the bus. While having the bus is a great option to get where you want to go, it isn't always the most convenient option.

The new gondola system will connect Hollywood Studios and Epcot to Caribbean Beach Resort, the not yet open Disney Riviera Resort, and to the Value Resorts Pop Century and Art of Animation.

As construction continues we see that the stations will be themed to reflect the park or resort, and the cars will represent different characters and attractions.

While the gondolas will not be air conditioned, Disney says that the gondolas will be comfortable in the Florida heat. The mesh panel windows on either side will provide ventilation as the gondolas move at approximately 11 mph.

The cars will have wooden benches on either side, and will hold up to ten guests.

Disney has announced that the cars will be themed after some of our favorite characters and movies.

The 300 fleet gondola system will take anywhere from 5-15 minutes to get you to your destination.

We also know that there will be gondolas equipped to accommodate passengers in wheelchairs. While the gondolas will be continuously moving, Cast Members are able to stop the gondolas as needed.

I for one can't wait until they open!
