An Overview of Animal Kingdom at Disney World

Animal Kingdom is the newest of the 4 theme parks. This park may seem like it is simply a zoo-themed park, but it is so much more. Journey to Asia, Africa, and even the World of Pandora!

  6. Dino-Land U.S.A.

Each area is known for specific landmarks or attractions:

Oasis

  • The Entrance to the park

Discovery Island

Rides

Animal Kingdom is home to many amazing rides. The biggest draw usually being Flight of Passage. Other popular rides include Expedition Everest, DINOSAUR and Na'vi River Journey. Check out my complete list of rides at Animal Kingdom, including descriptions, locations, height requirements, and more.

Food

You'll also find several amazing food options at Animal Kingdom. If you are an adventurous eater there are African and Asian food options that will knock your socks off. But if you (or your kids) don't want to get too adventurous with food, don't worry. You'll find plenty of American fare at this park as well.

Transportation to Animal Kingdom

There are a few options available to get you to Animal Kingdom.

Parking

You can park for free at Animal Kingdom if you are a resort guest or annual pass holder. Otherwise, parking is $25/day.

Buses

There are bus stops to and from the resorts that stop in front of the park.

Minnie Vans

Using the Lyft (Use code doubleyourwdw to get a discount on your first ride) app you can call a Disney Cast Member to pick you up in a special van that looks like Minnie Mouse. All Minnie Vans have 2 car seats available and can take you anywhere on the Disney property. Cost varies depending on how far you’re traveling.

Bringing items into the Park

At Animal Kingdom you CAN bring a bag or backpack on to every attraction. So feel free to pack a bag with your essentials for the day.

What can I bring in to the park?

  • Food
  • Small cooler
  • Milk/formula/other drinks
  • Small tripods or monopods (they have to fit into your backpack)
  • Your own stroller

What items can’t I bring?

  • Wagons (You can’t bring anything that your child has to be pulled in)
  • Folding chairs
  • Selfie sticks
  • Weapons
  • Large coolers
  • Straws (for the safety of the animals)
  • Balloons (for the safety of the animals)
