The Magic Kingdom has the most attractions by far. Here is a comprehensive list of attractions. Included in this complete list of rides are height requirements, Lightning Lane eligibility, and some thoughts on each ride, so that you can plan your trip based on what's best for your family.

How Many Rides Are at Magic Kingdom?

Magic Kingdom has 32 attractions, and 23 of them are rides. The rest are 6 shows, 1 walk-through and 2 interactive experiences.

That's why you'll see different numbers online. Some lists count only rides, and some count every attraction.

Here I count a ride as anything that moves you: a boat, a coaster, a car or a train. Carousel of Progress isn't on the ride list, because the theater turns but you stay put in your seat.

Two attractions are closed right now. The Walt Disney World Railroad is expected back October 30, 2026, and Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress is expected back in late spring 2027.

What Should You Ride First at Magic Kingdom?

Ride the one with the longest line first, before the crowds build.

So far in 2026, the longest average posted waits have been TRON Lightcycle / Run (67 minutes), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (48), Peter Pan's Flight (39), Tiana's Bayou Adventure (36) and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (35).

If you're staying at a Disney resort, you get 30 minutes of Early Entry every day. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan's Flight and Space Mountain are all open during Early Entry, so use it on one of those. TRON, Tiana's and Big Thunder are NOT.

TRON and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train are Lightning Lane Single Pass, so you pay for each one on its own. Big Thunder, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, Space Mountain and Tiana's are Multi Pass Tier 1, and you can only pick one of those.

There are no virtual queues at Magic Kingdom right now.

Main Street, U.S.A.

Walt Disney World Railroad

Closed for refurbishment. Expected back October 30, 2026.

Take a leisurely train ride. Since July 2025 the route is shorter than it used to be: it runs between Main Street U.S.A. and Fantasyland while the Frontierland station is closed for construction.

Main Street Vehicles

Ride a horse-drawn trolley, a jitney, a fire engine or an omnibus one way along Main Street U.S.A. They only run in the morning, so catch one on your way into the park.

This is a spinning ride that is similar to Dumbo. Watch out for the spitting camels!

Jungle Cruise

Classic ride. Corny jokes might be more fun for the adults.

Jungle Cruise is a boat ride through the rivers of the world, led by a skipper who tells terrible jokes.

The jokes are the whole point. Every skipper does it a little differently, so it's never quite the same ride twice.

There are no height requirements and nothing scary. So it works for every age in your group.

The line moves slowly once it backs up, and it backs up by late morning. Go early or plan on Lightning Lane.

From my trips: You don't always get the best skipper. Ours was hilarious: our boat got stopped, and he had to improvise for five to ten minutes.

Pirates of the Caribbean

This classic ride is a fan favorite. There is a small drop at the beginning of the ride that could be a little scary for kids.

Pirates of the Caribbean is a boat ride with one short drop near the start.

After that you float through the town raid, the jail scene and Captain Jack Sparrow hiding with the treasure.

The drop is small, but it's in the dark, so give your kids a heads up before you go.

The line usually moves quickly. So this is a good one for the middle of the day when the bigger rides are packed.

From my trips: Pirates is my must-do ride. I couldn't even tell you why, I love Pirates. It's the one I want to ride every time.

Frontierland

Country Bear Musical Jamboree

Newly updated and lots of fun for kids and adults alike. Or, a great place to rest your feet in the air conditioning while hearing new versions of Disney songs.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure

Closing November 2, 2026 for refurbishment. Expected back in December 2026.

A gentle boat ride that ends with a 5 story drop that might leave you soaked. This wonderfully updated ride replaced Splash Mountain in 2024.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure took over the old Splash Mountain building, and it's still a log flume with a big drop at the end.

You float through the bayou with Tiana, Louis and the critters getting ready for a Mardi Gras party. The music is new and the story is new, but that five-story drop at the end is still there.

You WILL get wet. How wet depends on where you sit, and the front row gets it worst.

If it's a cool morning, save it for the afternoon. If it's August, ride it twice.

From my trips: I love the jazz music, and it was a lot of fun. If you've been on it before, the ride track has not changed in any way. You're still in the logs. There are fewer animatronics than the old version, but the animatronics are way better.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

A family friendly coaster with no big drops. It reopened in May 2026 after a long refurbishment with a new Rainbow Caverns scene, and Disney lowered the height requirement from 40" to 38" at the same time.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a runaway mine train through the desert, and it's a great "first real coaster."

There are no big drops. It's all quick turns, dips and rattles, so it feels wild without being scary.

It reopened in May 2026 after a long refurbishment with the Rainbow Caverns scene added, and the height requirement dropped to 38".

It's also a ride that looks completely different at night. If you can, ride it once in the daytime and once after dark.

From my trips: We were able to just walk on Big Thunder, because even at regular park opening, everybody's running to Fantasyland.

Liberty Square

The Hall of Presidents

Haunted Mansion

Tour a mansion filled with ghosts. The scariest part to most is the room BEFORE the ride. Ask CM to skip that part if you're worried about little ones.

Haunted Mansion is spooky, not scary, and that difference matters if you have little ones.

You ride a Doom Buggy through the house, past the ballroom of dancing ghosts and the hitchhiking ghosts at the end. It's dark and a little creepy, but there are no drops and nothing jumps out at you.

The ride starts with the stretching room, which is the part some kids don't love. It's dark and the doors close.

If your kids handle a little spooky, this is a classic you shouldn't skip.

From my trips: If you see 5 minutes, that's a walk-on. Unless it's Haunted Mansion, then it's 13. 13 is their walk-on number.

Fantasyland

It's a Small World

Ride in a boat through several countries as adorable dolls sing the iconic song.

Peter Pan's Flight

Pirate boats take you through scene's from Peter Pan. The line for this classic ride can get long, but it has one of the best ride queues in the park.

Peter Pan's Flight is a slow dark ride, and it has some of the longest lines in the park for its size.

You sit in a flying pirate ship that hangs from the track above, so you float over London and Never Land instead of rolling through them.

The ride itself is only a few minutes long. So the wait is the real question here.

Ride it first thing in the morning or with Lightning Lane. I would not wait an hour for it.

From my trips: During Early Entry I rode Peter Pan. It was posted at 25 minutes, and it was maybe a 10-minute wait.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

A family friendly coaster with Animatronic Dwarfs

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a family coaster, and it's the one most kids ride first.

The cars swing side to side as you go, and the middle of the ride slows down inside the mine so you can see the dwarfs singing at work. Then it speeds back up for the finish.

It's short and smooth, with no big drops. So it's a great test run before you try Big Thunder or Space Mountain.

The catch is the line. This is one of the longest waits in the park all day, so plan it for rope drop or use Lightning Lane.

From my trips: We ran straight to Mine Train at opening and it was still a 30-minute wait. Three to four minutes after we got in line, the wait jumped to 60 minutes.

Smellephants on Parade

Tomorrowland

TRON Lightcycle / Run

A rollercoaster unlike any other! You ride a motorbike with a back harness

TRON is the fastest ride at Magic Kingdom, and it starts with a launch.

You ride a lightcycle, leaning forward like you're on a motorcycle, with a pad that locks against your back. The launch takes you outside under the canopy, and the rest of the ride is indoors in the dark.

If you aren't sure the bike seat will fit, there is a test seat at the entrance. There are also a few standard coaster cars on each train if the bike won't work for you.

This is the ride your thrill seekers will talk about all day. If you have a nervous rider, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the better first coaster.

From my trips: I've ridden it day and night. It is better at night, but only minimally, because you're only outside for a few seconds. About 90% of the ride is indoors.

Space Mountain

Indoor coaster that has several drops and twists and turns

Space Mountain is a roller coaster in the dark.

It isn't the fastest coaster in the park, but it feels fast because you can't see where the track goes next. Sharp turns and quick drops come out of nowhere.

You sit single file, one rider behind another. So you can't sit next to your little one, and that can matter for a first-timer.

If your kids liked Big Thunder and want something a little more intense, this is the next step.

From my trips: Everything in the hub and Main Street was jam-packed. The moment you went anywhere else in the park, it was dead. Space Mountain was a walk-on.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

A ride and a game rolled in to one! Help Buzz defeat Zurg by shooting at targets as you ride. It reopened in April 2026 with handheld blasters, redesigned ride vehicles, on-board screens that show your score as you go, and a new robot character named Buddy who gets you calibrated before you launch.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is a ride and a game.

It reopened in 2026 with handheld blasters, new vehicles and live scoring on board, so you're shooting targets to help Buzz beat Zurg as you go.

You can spin your car, which is a big deal to kids who want the best angle on the targets.

This is the ride where your competitive family members come out. Expect a rematch.

Magic Kingdom Ride Questions

What Is the 3-2-1 Rule at Disney?

It isn't a Disney rule. It's a planning tip that took off on TikTok this year.

For each park day you pick 3 rides, 2 experiences (a show, a parade, fireworks or a character meet) and 1 meal. Anything beyond those six is a bonus.

I like it for first trips with little ones, because it keeps the day from turning into a checklist.

What Are the Scariest Rides at Magic Kingdom for Little Kids?

The thrill rides are TRON Lightcycle / Run, Space Mountain and Tiana's Bayou Adventure. TRON and Space Mountain are fast and mostly in the dark, and Tiana's ends with a big drop.

Some gentle rides can still scare little ones. Haunted Mansion is dark and spooky, and Pirates of the Caribbean has a short drop in the dark near the start.

Which Magic Kingdom Rides Have Rider Switch?

Rider Switch lets one adult ride while the other waits with a child who is too small, then you swap without waiting in line again. At Magic Kingdom it's offered on TRON Lightcycle / Run, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, The Barnstormer and Tomorrowland Speedway.

Disney doesn't list Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, so ask the cast member at the entrance.

Does Magic Kingdom Have Single Rider Lines?

No. None of the Magic Kingdom rides on this list has a single rider line right now.
