Tips For Celebrating a Birthday at Disney World

birthday at Disney World

Having a birthday at Disney World is a fun and magical way to celebrate another year. Whether you are celebrating an adult's milestone birthday, or making a birthday extra special for a child, Disney has magical ways to spread pixie dust on any birthday trip.

Here are some tips and suggestions for creating the most magical Disney birthday celebration ever!

Grab a Free Birthday Button

Head over to Guest Services at any of the parks and pick up a free birthday button. This is a fun and customized souvenir that will let every single Cast Member know that it is your special day. And as you walk the parks Cast Members will be wishing you a happy birthday the entire day.

Note Your Birthday in Your Reservations

While you should never expect upgrades or freebies, it's never a bad idea to let Cast Members know that you are celebrating something special. If they are able to, they will often do what they can to make your day special.

I've seen balloons or cards left in resort rooms. I've also seen birthday cupcakes to celebrate at restaurants. So let Cast Members know that you are celebrating when you check in to your resort or restaurant.

Decorate Your Resort Room

Disney has a service that can help you decorate your resort room for any special occasion. Not only can they decorate, but you can have balloons, gift baskets, treats, and more delivered to your room with Disney Floral and Gifts.

While some of the packages are pricy, you could easily use this service as not only a way to decorate and make your resort room festive and special for your birthday celebration, you can also do this as part of your souvenir or snack budget. Many of the packages include toys, plush characters, treats, and more.

Order a Birthday Cake

It wouldn't be a birthday celebration without a birthday cake! You can order a birthday cake to be delivered to any table service restaurant of your choosing. You can order a cake by calling (407) WDW-DINE before your reservation.

You can request a cake when you check in to your reservation, but cakes are limited so you wont be guaranteed a cake if you want.

You can get more details on Disney's website.

Plan a Fun Extra

If you are looking for an extra you can add to your trip, there are a ton of options for everyone!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a Princess makeover for kids age 3-12. Fairy Godmothers in training will transform your child in to the Princess of their choosing. Packages range from $74.95 for package with hair and makeup to $450 for a package including a high quality gown, full makeover, and some fun extras (there are several packages in between).

If you have a little Prince who wants a makeover, you can get a Prince Charming makeover from $19.95 - $79.95.

After your makeover you can head over to a photopass studio to have some portraits taken of your new look.

There are locations in the Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, and The Grand Floridian Resort. You can make reservations on Disney's website 180 days in advance.

Perfectly Princess Tea

Another fun idea for the Princess lover's birthday is a Perfectly Princess Tea at the Grand Floridian (This would be a great addition to a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makever).

During this tea, hosted by Princess Aurora, you'll enjoy tea (or apple juice) and treats, meet characters, listen to stories, and enjoy sing-a-longs.

Kids aged 3-9 years old have the option to upgrade their tea to include some fun keepsakes, including an Aurora doll, a tiara, a bracelet, and more.

You can make reservations and get full pricing and details on Disney's website.

Book a Dessert Party

What better way to celebrate a birthday than with desserts and fireworks?

All 4 parks offer dessert parties that include drinks, desserts, and VIP seating to an evening show. You can book any of the dessert parties on Disney's website.

Book Highway In The Sky Dine Around

If you are looking for more of an adult and upscale birthday celebration you might want to book the Highway in the Sky Dine Around.

This is a four course dining experience. You start at the Contemporary Resort and take the monorail around to each resort on the monorail line. Every stop includes food and drinks. You'll end back at the Contemporary Resort where you'll get VIP viewing of the evening fireworks from a private patio.

You can book this experience on Disney's website.

Book a Meal With Your Favorite Character

There are tons of amazing character meals at Disney World. Both inside and outside of the parks. Booking a meal with one of your favorite characters is a fun way to celebrate your special day (be sure to note in your reservation that it's your birthday!).
