Tron Soft Opening, Dessert Parties for Happily Ever After, and New Characters at the Parks

Disney World has some exciting updates this week. Here we'll go over everything happening and announced this week at the parks.

TRON Soft Opening

While TRON Lightcycle Run will be officially opening on April 4, 2023 (I'll be there on opening day to check it out), Disney has announced that they will be doing a soft opening starting March 20 through April 2. The ride will be closed on April 3 to guests, and will officially open starting April 4.

Guests looking to take advantage of the soft opening will need to have a Magic Kingdom park reservation. They will also need to join the free virtual queue in order to ride. There will be no standby queue for the ride.

It's important to note that with soft openings you are not always guaranteed to ride.

Fireworks Dessert Parties for Happily Ever After on Sale

If you are excited about the return of Happily Ever After, the fan favorite nighttime show at Magic Kingdom, you might be interested in purchasing tickets to a dessert party. This will give you guaranteed reserved viewing of the show, plus all you can eat desserts and drinks.

Tickets for these dessert parties will go on sale starting March 23.

Happily Ever After returns to Magic Kingdom on April 3, 2023.

New Characters at the Parks

It was announced that Merida will soon be meeting in the Magic Kingdom. She'll be meeting in Fairytale Garden (next to the castle near Tomorrowland) in the area that Merida from Brave currently meets (no exact date announced yet).

Moana will begin meeting guests in Animal Kingdom starting April 22, 2023.

Figment will begin meeting guests at the Imagination! pavilion starting late summer (no exact date announced yet), and Mickey will move to his new home at Communicor Hall later this year. Both of these meets are in Epcot.
