Chewbacca Mode on Smugglers Run: How to Unlock This Secret Ride Mode

If you've ever ridden Smuggler's Run at Disney's Hollywood Studios, you know that your mission is to take flight in the Millenium Falcon to find Coaxium.

Each guest is given a specific job. There are two pilots, two engineers, and two gunners. You are given directions by a smuggler pilot named Hondo Ohnaka, with the help of everyone's favorite Wookie, Chewbacca.

But did you know that you can unlock a secret ride mode on Smugglers Run?

This easter egg is known as Chewie Mode, and has only Chewbacca giving the orders as you fly through the galaxy to search for Coaxium.

How do you Unlock Chewbacca Mode Easter Egg?

You do it by having each person do a specific thing before the ride starts. Do NOT hit the activate or any other buttons (even if directed by Hondo) until everyone has done their specific job.

1. Talk to your group BEFORE you enter the Millenium Falcon so everyone knows their job.This must be done BEFORE a Cast Member locks you in.
2. Pilots: Move your joystick all the way to the left/right or all the way up/down. Hold that position!
3. Gunners and Engineers: Hit the WHITE button on your station
4. Now you can hit activate!

This should unlock Chewbacca Mode for your ride.

Tips

If you are unsure, ask the Cast Member to help you. Most likely they will know how to do it and will be able to help any guests.

I would also make sure you talk to everyone before you get on the ride. Unless you happen to be with 6 of your friends, you will probably be seated with strangers. And they will need to be on board with your plan. So make sure everyone in the group is up for it, and knows their job before you board the Millenium Falcon.
